Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Welcome to Our Early Years!

At Seri Botani International School, we believe that a child’s first years of learning are the most important. Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) program is designed for children aged 3 to 5 and helps them learn through fun, play and discovery.

Nursery: Our nursery level is for children aged 3+ to 4+ and introduces young learners to a world of exploration and creativity.

Reception: For children aged 4+ to 5+ years old, our reception level focuses on preparing children for the transition to formal primary schooling, building on the skills the’ve started developing.

What is Our Curriculum?

The EYFS is a framework that guides how we teach young children. It focuses on holistic growth, helping them grow in all areas; academically and in their skills -like learning to communicate, explore, and make friends-so they can be ready for the next steps in their education.

Methodology

We know every child is special and learns in their own way. Our teachers use play-based activities, tailored to their individual learning preferences to help children learn new things while having fun. Whether it’s building with blocks, painting, or playing outside, children develop important skills through activities they enjoy.

Curriculum Overview

1. Communication: Helping children express themselves and listen to others.

2. Physical development: Encouraging movement and coordination.

3. Social and emotional growth: Building friendships and understanding emotions.

4. Early literacy: Reading and writing.

5. Mathematics: Numbers and problem solving.

6. Exploring and understanding the world: Learning about nature, people, and the environment.

A Typical Day at Early Years, SBIS

Our Early Years program at SBIS begins at 8:00 a.m. by welcoming the children into a day filled with engaging activities. At 9:20 a.m., the children enjoy a snack break to refuel before continuing with their learning and play.

Middat, at 12:00p.m, the children will have their lunch break, This offers time for them to relax and socialise with friends. After wards, the children get to unwind in a short nap time between 12:40 p.m – 1:20 p.m. This allows them to rest and recharge for the afternoon.

The day concludes with Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) and project-based learning from 1:20 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. This is where the children explore creative, hands-on projects that spark curiosity and develop critical thinking.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)

Our daily Early Years CCA programs are thoughtfully created to engage and inspire our youngest learners. With a variety of fun and age-appropriate activities, these sessions spark creativity, boost physical development and strengthen social skills.

Designed to encourage exploration and curiosity, our CCAs provide children with the opportunity to discover new passions and build self-confidence in a warm supportive environment. By participating in our Early Years CCA program, students receive a well rounded experience that enriches their educational journey, helping them grow into confident, well-balanced individuals.

After School Programme (ASP) at SBIS

The After School Programme (ASP) at SBIS runs from 2:40 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing students with an exciting extension to their day. The ASP is filled with fun, play-based activities that foster creativity and social interaction. Additionally, it offers skillful and academic enrichment opportunities, where children can explore new interests, develop essential skills, and reinforce their learning in a playful yet structured environment. Whether through hands-on projects or interactive games, our ASP ensures that students continue to grow, learn, and have fun after the regular school day.

ASP also offers school holiday programs throughout the year, featuring special activities such as outdoor summer camps. These programs include outsourced activities that provide hands-on learning, fun, and educational experiences.

Parents' testimonials

"My child was a very timid and reserved kid outside the house. After joining SBIS Early Years, she has developed and sharpened her learning skills. We appreciate the effort by the teachers to focus on her development. There were different approaches to teaching and learning activities that made it an enjoyable journey for my daughter. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers for playing a massive role in developing her learning skills. Thank you."

"I have two children here at SBIS. The teachers are friendly and supportive, offering guidance where it is needed. The small ratio of students to teachers creates a strong learning environment with a family of teachers who truly care about the kids. The teaching methods are relaxed and flexible. Teachers make it fun and interactive. The school has done a great job developing their confidence and independence. My children are happy and eager to go to school every day. Highly recommended."
