KEY STAGE 1 & 2
PRIMARY SCHOOL: KEY STAGE 1 & 2 (Year 1 - 6)
As students transition from the Early Years, they embark on a transformative educational journey into a more structured learning environment, where formal instruction in English, Mathematics, and Science is introduced. During these formative years, students begin to refine their collaborative skills, engaging in group projects and whole-class activities that foster critical thinking and teamwork.
At SBIS, our curriculum is designed to nurture independent, inquisitive learners. Each lesson is carefully crafted to strike a balance between learner-led exploration and structured guidance, ensuring that every student masters core concepts. Comprehensive formative and summative assessments are employed to rigorously monitor progress, guaranteeing that each child confidently grasps the key fundamentals.
We believe in holistic development, encouraging our students to explore their passions, cultivate their strengths, and unlock their full potential. To enrich their educational experience, we conduct annual field trips that provide immersive, multi-sensory learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom, promoting experiential growth in a dynamic, real-world context.
Year 6 Checkpoint
At our school, the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint serves as a comprehensive and rigorous assessment for our Year 6 learners, marking the culmination of their primary education. These internationally benchmarked tests, administered by Cambridge International, cover key areas including English, Mathematics, and Science. For English, whether taken as a first or second language, students are evaluated on their mastery of language skills, comprehension, and analytical abilities, providing a deep insight into their readiness for the next stage of their academic journey.
The detailed feedback from these assessments empowers our school to make informed and strategic decisions about each student’s educational path. By utilising advanced reporting tools, we are able to:
- Personalise and enhance individual learning plans;
- Monitor and assess the performance of both individual learners and groups;
- Benchmark student outcomes against global standards;
- Seamlessly adapt our teaching strategies as students progress through their academic careers.
This comprehensive feedback not only measures a student’s mastery of the curriculum but also provides valuable insight into their performance within their cohort and against international standards, ensuring they are well-prepared for continued academic success.
